Humboldt Broncos bus, semi involved in serious collision, multiple deaths

A bus carrying a Canadian junior hockey team was involved in a crash, with an unspecified number of fatalities and injuries reported.

RCMP are reporting a serious collision between a hockey team's bus and a semi-trailer unit near the intersection of Highways #35 and #335.

The team was on its way to Nipawin for a playoff game, which has now been cancelled.

STARS Air Ambulance was dispatched to the scene of the accident. We ask during this time that you don't send messages.

A location has been established in Nipawin for families to gather: Nipawin Apostolic Church 109 - 4th Ave.

Traffic is expected to be blocked or restricted in the area for several hours, RCMP say. Emergency Measures personnel will attend as will Victim Services representatives.

The Mercury will have more details as they become available. Drivers are asked to use extreme caution when driving in the area, and are asked to avoid the area altogether if possible.
