Jurgen Klopp has offered an update on Mohamed Salah after the attacker limped off during Liverpool's stunning 3-0 Champions League victory over Manchester City last night.

Liverpool FC now turn their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their crunch clash against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime.

The 50-year-old manager was asked by BT Sport whether Salah suffered a groin injury to which he replied, "I hope not".

The Egypt global, whose haul of 38 goals this season includes 29 in the league, was forced off with a groin injury during Wednesday's 3-0 Champions League quarter-final victory over Manchester City.

"It's not possible. I don't think any of our supporters want us to do that", Klopp told a news conference on Friday. So, we immediately took him off the pitch.

However, Klopp will not risk playing Salah in the Premier League fixture, keen to keep him fresh for next Tuesday's second leg tie with Manchester City.

"I can't make Mo available because it's the derby, I'd never do it". If he is a doubt he will not be involved, that is how it is.

"As always, [we were] in close talks with the medical department [to find out] who is 100 per cent".

"We will see, I don't know at the moment".

Klopp also hinted Danny Ings will start against the Toffees on Saturday, affording Roberto Firmino a rest ahead of the return trip to Manchester.

"Because that will be really tough [for Salah to face Everton], and probably Everton are more happy about the game [time] than we are, and that's not fair".

"We still have the same number of games as we would have had with them".
