According to an article in the New York Daily News, yesterday's apartment fire was described as a "raging inferno".

Flames and smoke were spotted billowing and debris raining down from the 50th floor of the Trump Tower around 5:30 p.m. Brassner lived in apartment 50C.

It's not yet known the specific cause of 67-year-old's death. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at a local hospital a few hours later.

"People feel safer with sprinklers", Trump said in 1999, according to The New York Times.

Brassner, who records show bought his unit in 1996, is mentioned several times in Warhol's posthumously published diaries, with references including lunch dates and shared taxis.

Mr. Trump tweeted at 6:43 p.m. that the fire had been extinguished, although Nigro said it wasn't yet under control at the time due to the smoke conditions on the upper floors.

ABC reported that it was the second fire this year at Trump tower. Owners of such older residential high-rises are required to install sprinklers only when the building undergoes major renovations. Firefighters and secret service agents also checked on Trump's apartment.

In addition to that, back in the late 90s, the billionaire business mogul lobbied not to have sprinklers installed in high-rise buildings, including the ones he owned, after the New York City introduced legislation requiring all residential skyscrapers to be equipped with such fire safety measures. A minor fire also occurred on the building's roof three months ago.

Six firefighters suffered injuries that are not life threatening, Conroy said.

The first ever fire at Trump Tower was in 1982, when the top floor caught fire in what the fire chief then called 'definitely, absolutely, positively arson'.

"It was a very hard fire, as you can imagine", Nigro told reporters outside the building, in midtown Manhattan. When asked to comment on the President's tweet, Nigro said the building "sure stood up quite well".

Trump Tower is the headquarters of The Trump Organization.

President Trump was not in New York City this weekend. Firemen (and women) did a great job.

Opened in 1983, the mixed-use skyscraper is a jewel in The Trump Organisation's real estate portfolio that includes high-end properties, hotels and golf courses.
