Arenado yelled at Padres catcher A.J. Ellis near the San Diego dugout and had to be held back, with Padres bench coach Mark McGwire helping keep them separated.

A series of hit batters between the San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies was the culprit.

Padres pitcher Luis Perdomo fired a fastball that flew just behind Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado. That feeling only intensified when Trevor Story was plunked with two outs in the first inning by Perdomo.

Perdomo threw his glove at the oncoming Arenado before backtracking and putting his fists up for a fight.

The full thing is pretty heated. Arenado throws a punch. Arenado kept trying to punch the pitcher as the benches cleared and the relievers sprinted in from the bullpen.

The Rockies, who are off to an uninspiring 5-7 start, promptly scored the first run of the game when Carlos Gonzalez singled home Ian Desmond. All likely are looking at suspensions and/or fines, as well. Once the Major League Baseball sorts through the full video, expect others to face some discipline as well. Colorado leads 6-3, after scoring five runs in the third inning.

The game is still going without Luis Perdomo and Nolan Arenado, and is now heading into the seventh inning.
