Bayern Munich have been labelled "disrespectful" by Eintracht Frankfurt director of football Fredi Bobic for allegedly leaking news of their agreement with coach Niko Kovac a day before the announcement.

It will cost Bayern a reported €2.2 million to release Kovac from his contract with Eintracht, which runs for another year.

"Niko Kovač will be the new FC Bayern München head coach from the start of the 2018/19 season", Bayern announced on Friday. "Therefore he is predestined to coach at Bayern", said Heynckes.

A close friend of Salihamidzic, Kovac will also bring his 44-year-old brother Robert Kovac from Frankfurt as assistant coach.

Last season, Frankfurt came bottom of the Bundesliga's "fair play" league by some distance.

Regarding Kovac, Heynckes said the former Bayern midfielder is a good choice to take over his job.

Despite Kovac's relative inexperience with both Frankfurt and Croatia, he already has an impressive resume.

Bayern had appointed Kovac as he is familiar with the Bavarian side, having played for them before.

Heynckes returned in an interim capacity - his fourth time in charge of Bayern, with the previous three reaping a Champions League title as well as four Bundesliga crowns and a DFB-Pokal - in October 2017 after Carlo Ancelotti was sacked.

But Kovac places huge value on the personal relationship with his players, a quality he attributes to his former coaches Ottmar Hitzfeld, Giovanni Trapattoni and Christoph Daum ("Three coaches who also possessed great human qualities in addition to their professional expertise") but also to his strong Christian faith.

In Munich, Jupp Heynckes' Bayern Munich marched into another Champions League semifinal Wednesday despite 10-man Sevilla holding them to a goalless draw at home in Wednesday's second leg. Bayern Munich will face Real Madrid and Liverpool will take on AS Roma in the semi-finals of the Champions League following the draw at UEFA's headquarters today.

Twelve-time European champions Real are now in the last four for the eighth season in a row. "In this phase which is extremely important for Eintracht Frankfurt".

Kovac will need to adjust to instructing established stars at Bayern, rather than young players of promise still eager to learn, and he will be expected to maintain the club's high standards.
