Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 May Get a Battle Royale Mode

According to the site's alleged report, Black Ops 4 is nearing its release date and the single-player campaign was nowhere near completion. Sources with knowledge of the project have told the outlet that it became evident as the game's fall launch date approached that they would not have time to finish the campaign and have since made a decision to scrap it.

A battle royale mode in a Call of Duty game has been anticipated by many, though there's some surprise that it'll come so soon.

Developer Treyarch seems to be focussing on multiplayer and zombies mode instead.

According to Polygon, sources connected to Black Ops 4 development have stated that progress on the game's single-player wouldn't be complete by the time it launched. If there is indeed no single-player for Black Ops IV, we are left to speculate on the exact reasoning.
