If those forecasts are achieved, it will make fiscal 2019 the most successful year for Nintendo in eight years - back when the Nintendo Wii was at its most popular.

The Switch has been a big success for Nintendo ever since it launched last March, and now the company has reported that nothing has changed.

In terms of software sales, Super Mario Odyssey crossed the 10 million mark, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe shipping 2 million units over the quarter's three month period.

The company also provided the specific sales numbers for its first-party games, with 9 games being detailed.

Tatsumi Kimishima was the successor of Satoru Iwata who passed away in 2015. He will be officially appointed as the new sixth president and CEO of Nintendo in June.

Nintendo has revealed that their latest console, the Nintendo Switch, has sold a whopping 17 million units.

Nintendo estimated operating profit for the year through March to rise 26.7 percent from a year prior to 225 billion yen ($2.06 billion).
