4 including three Lashkar terrorists killed in Srinagar encounter

The Jammu and Kashmir Police vehicle on Saturday "deliberately" crushed a youth to death following protesters in Srinagar city tried to march towards Chattabal area in order to help the militants escape trapped in an encounter. "According to the medical bulletin, he died in a road accident at Noorbagh", a police spokesman said, adding that the place was almost four to five kms away from the encounter site.

The encounter in the congested area of Chattabal started early in the morning and by over by the noon without any collateral damage.

The police said that one of the slain militants was Fayaz Ahmed Hamaal, a resident of Srinagar's Fatah Kadal locality, whereas identities of the two others killed with him are yet to be ascertained. "He was previously involved in case FIR no 83/2017 u/s 392 RPC, 7/25 IA Act, 30 Police Act of police station MR Gunj Srinagar", the spokesperson said. "I thank the people of Srinagar for their cooperation", CRPF IG Ravideep Sahi said after the operation ended.

The J&K police tweeted, "One person identified as Aadil Ahmad Yaddo was brought to SMHS hospital whom doctors declared brought dead".

Three civilians were killed and a woman critically injured in two separate terror attacks in North Kashmir, police said.

A Special Police Officer (SPO), Showkat Ahmad, was killed by militants in south Kashmir Pulwama district, officials said.

CRPF Assistant Commandant Lambocha Singh was injured in the encounter, they said. The proterster, however, alleged that the youth was runover by police vehicle.

CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Tabela Chattabal in Safakadal following inputs about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.

Immediately after the gunfight erupted, mobile internet services were shut down and restrictions imposed in sensitive areas.

At about 3:30 Am the terrorists shot both of them dead. It added that the bullet-riddled corpses of the victims were found by the locals near a mosque in the area's Raheem Dar Mohalla.
