Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to discuss bilateral relations, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Spokesperson Safeen Dizayee said on Wednesday.

Netanyahu before leaving Israel for the visit said that "the meetings between us are always important and this one is especially so".

"Russia should be modern and dynamic, it should be ready to accept the call of the times", he said in his inauguration speech to thousands of guests standing in three halls of the Grand Kremlin Palace.

Russian Federation on Wednesday marked the 73rd anniversary of victory in what it calls the Great Patriotic War, the day in 1945 that Nazi Germany surrendered.

"It is hard for me to describe to you the depth of my impression from that moving ceremony to mark the victory over Nazism", he said.

A military parade commemorating the 73rd anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 was held in the Russian capital on Wednesday. "It is unbelievable, but 73 years after the Holocaust, there is a country in the Middle East, Iran, that is calling for the destruction of another six million Jews".

"But there is a difference between what was then and what is today: we have our own country", he added.

Following the parade, the leaders attended a wreath-laying ceremony for the unknown soldier at the memorial for Red Army soldiers who fell in World War II and whose resting place is unknown.

At the parade, Netanyahu saw state-of-the art Russian weaponry, some of which - ironically - it has deployed in Syria to bolster President Bashar Assad and which could challenge Israel's air supremacy there. The parade featured T-14 Armata tanks, MPT Terminator support vehicles, artillery, S-400 Triumf long-range air defense systems and Yars nuclear-tipped missile launchers, and other military vehicles now in service.

"We remember the tragedy of the two world wars, the history lessons, they do not let us be struck blind".
