LeBron James: Kevin Durant addresses critics ahead of NBA Finals

Last season's playoff results: Warriors defeated Cavaliers in five games to win the 2017 NBA Finals.

That's the advice of Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson, who will serve as the ESPN analysts for the deja vu all over again series between the Warriors and Cavaliers.

Kevin Durant doesn't think he should be compared to LeBron James.

However, in this series when every possession will be magnified, Lue will count on four players who have been around since the Cavs first met the Warriors in the 2015 Finals. Kevin Durant was the game's leading scorer (34 points) and Draymond Green its leading rebounder (13 boards).

I'm in the camp who believes LeBron James can bypass Micahel Jordan by doing something nobody believes can be done. "Just reminds me a lot of guys I played with back in the day when you see Horace Grant, Robert Horry, Derek Fisher, just something about winning a championship with those guys that you will never forget, and it's a bond that can't be broken". Mathematically, James has played 12.5 more 48-minute games than Klay Thompson, who has played the second-most minutes among Cavaliers and Warriors players.

The NBA usually fines players for speaking out against referees, but Lin and Cousins have tested the boundaries by criticizing officials' performances in games that don't feature their own teams. The Milwaukee Bucks' "Greek Freak", Giannis Antetokounmpo, has drawn national attention for his prowess. LeBron's detractors often ding the four-time MVP for his 3-5 career record in the NBA Finals, but looking at the pre-series odds provides some useful context.

The Cavaliers will need James at his best to even have a chance to beat the Warriors this year. "They are clearly the favorite, without question, but the luxury of having the best player in the world in that situation, anything can happen".

James might be playing the best basketball of his life.

The two are now set to face each other in the historic fourth-consecutive NBA Finals matchup between their teams, although neither has been involved in the rivalry long.
