The world is in a state of disbelief after Kim Kardashian went to the White House this week to discuss reform of the American prison system with president Donald Trump, and specifically to lobby for the pardon of Alice Marie Johnson.

Let's get checking out a bunch of times Kylie Jenner proved she was the Queen of selfies. According to a person familiar with the meeting, Kardashian plans to ask Trump to pardon a woman serving a life sentence without parole for a first-time drug offense.

"Our hope is that we get Miss Alice's freedom - today is her 63rd birthday, her 21st birthday behind bars - so we are hoping that Trump realizes that there is no justifiable reason for Johnson to spend the rest of her life in prison", Barnett said.

"She has embraced my cause and taken to heart my plight", Johnson told Business Insider's Michelle Mark in April. Given a life sentence on October 31, 1996, she has served 21 years at the federal prison in Aliceville, Alabama.

The President described the encounter as a "great meeting" and posted an image of both inside the Oval Office.

Literally no one would have called on these two reality stars to discuss such an important and nuanced topic, but since Trump managed to dog whistle his way into the White House, he's the boss when it comes to who is welcome at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

"I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon". As her page notes, Johnson's clemency request was denied by the Obama administration.

Now after meeting the 71-year-old Republican, she is optimistic that Johnson will be given a second chance. A petition asking Trump to grant Johnson clemency has also nearly reached its goal of 300,000 supporter signatures as of Wednesday.

Secondly, the House approved the First Step Act, a legislative proposition of Kushner's, which allows more prisoners to serve sentences in halfway houses and funds support programs to prevent recidivism.

Kardashian West reportedly discovered 62-year-old Alice Johnson's story on Twitter earlier this year and contacted Trump's daughter, Ivanka, who put her in touch with Kushner.
