Apple announced iOS 12, no devices left behind

We've already had Google's annual dev conference, Google I/O, so now it's Apple's turn with its annual Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC). This year, Apple plans to focus on performance and stability improvements over major new features or UI overhauls. iOS 12 will likely include more ways manage your usage of your digital device usage. The company invited Martin Sanders from Lego to talk about ARKit. Apple also announces "Memojis". Along with bug fixes and refinements to the underlying code, the new version will also introduce enhanced support for augmented reality and digital health. Apple Books will replace iBooks; it now has a naming scheme in sync with Apple Music and Apple News.

-With Siri shortcuts, you can tune Siri to fetch information from an app without opening it on the lock screen itself. In other words, iOS will now be context-aware about the way it notifies you.

Siri Suggestions then uses those shortcuts to, well, suggest you something you might have forgotten. It also highlighted how some developers, such as Lego, are incorporating the trendy technology into apps. Reports over the weekend claimed the new version has a new a systemwide dark mode and a new Mac News app icon. There's a new sidebar in the News app to improve navigation.

Virtual and augmented reality are two of the big current tech trends (or are trying to be, at least), so Apple is trying to iterate its relevant software quickly, again according to Bloomberg.

This follows news last fall that Apple OS chief VP Craig Federighi took over leadership of Apple's Siri team from VP Eddy Cue.
