Kevin Durant Carries Warriors to Game Three Win Over Cavaliers

Curry finally found his stroke from distance, hitting his only 3-pointer of the game to extend Golden State's lead to 101-97 with just under three minutes remaining.

In the opening minutes of Game 3 with the Cavaliers working to build an early lead, LeBron threw the ball off the backboard to himself and threw down a dunk for the ages. They got a little of both. He became the sixth player in Finals history to top 50 points, and the only one to lose in the process. LeBron James drilled a three-pointer of his own to get Cleveland back to within one. He is the second Warrior to play in 100 postseason contests, joining only Klay Thompson. Instead of being sleepless from watching game video after a Game 4 loss, Durant hopes to be sleepless from celebrating a second National Basketball Association title and perhaps a second Finals MVP trophy.

If Cleveland was going to make this a series, that was the team that needed to show up on Wednesday night. "But I thought our guys did a great job of fighting and sticking to the game plan outside of a couple breakdowns here and there".

James, meanwhile, had 33 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. They scored 49 points in the first quarter of Game 4 [last year]. After his 15 and 10 first half, Love finished the game with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Durant put the Warriors on his back to give them a 110-102 win over the Cavaliers, pushing their series lead to 3-0 and putting the Cavs' season on the brink.

Durant added shot 6-for-9 from the three-point line, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out 7 assists.

All five Warriors starters scored in double digits, but aside from Durant, none surpassed 11 points.

Coming off a Game 2 in which he attacked, distributed and performed yeoman's work defensively on LeBron James while Curry dazzled from distance, Durant moved front and center in the Warriors' offense.

Golden State shot 52 percent from the floor, but neither team was sharp from long-distance - each canning nine triples on the night. Curry has downplayed his interest in the award, but his fourth quarter explosion in Game 2 following an altercation with Cleveland's Kendrick Perkins showed a competitive fire that is rarely on public display from Curry.

He returned to the Cavaliers in 2014 vowing to end Cleveland's sports title drought, something he did by beating the Warriors in 2016 after 52 seasons since the 1964 NFL Browns won a title.

The Cavs' big man, who has been targeted defensively by the Warriors over the course of the rivalry, was relentless in the first half.

The Cavaliers came out ready to rumble on Wednesday night, jumping out to a 16-4 lead and working the sold-out crowd into a frenzy.

Golden State had no intentions of messing around in game two. From that moment on, Kerr said he made things easier for everyone around him - except the Cavaliers. A JaVale McGee layup gave the Warriors the lead, 65-64, early in the quarter.
