The KEY2 retains the same 4.5-inch display with 3:2 aspect ratio and 1080 x 1620 pixels resolution.

BlackBerry Mobile is releasing a new smartphone, complete with its trademark physical keyboard and a new key for faster app access, as the iconic phone maker hopes to make a return to growth.

The KEY2 runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with 6GB RAM, and is available in two variants - 64GB and 128 GB internal storage - with expandable storage of up to 256GB.

The dual camera is a first on BlackBerry (12M+12M) with Dual Tone LED Flash, Dual Phase Detect Auto Focus (Dual PDAF) that includes portrait mode and optical superzoom as well. Secondly, it comes with a "Speed Key" that gives you shortcut access to different functions. Last year TCL brought us the Blackberry KEYone, a masterful blend of nostalgia and modern smartphone prowess.

"We're committed to the keyboard category", Alain Lejeune, president of BlackBerry Mobile and senior VP at TCL Communication, told CNNMoney ahead of Thursday's event. At the front, the device gets an 8MP sensor capable of recording HD videos. Providing juice is a huge 3,500 mAh battery which supports Quick Charge 3.0.

Just like a year ago, the phone comes with a pretty hefty price tag so unless you are a die-hard Blackberry fan or want to buy a secure device; you won't want to buy the Key2.

As well as the usual BlackBerry suite of software enhancements - like the Hub, Priority Edge, DTEK security app and Calendar - there are some newer additions to this Android Oreo device.

The BlackBerry phone comes in two color options - Silver and Black with an identically textured back. Following the lukewarm response towards KEYone smartphone despite positive reviews, BlackBerry is hell-bent on making an irresistible impact with a new model, KEY2. The storage can be expanded up to 2TB with a microSD card.

BlackBerry KEY2 looks like a traditional BlackBerry phone. The BlackBerry KEYone was built on that notion and the BlackBerry KEY2 continues from where the KEYone left off. There's a fingerprint sensor inside the home button; the whole thing acts as a touch-sensitive trackpad and it feels very clicky.

Back in 2009, having a BlackBerry was a thing as the brand was quite mighty at the time.

TCL has kept the battery life of the BlackBerry Key2 same as it is in the KeyOne.

The Blackberry Key2 will cost $829 in Canada.

Prices of the Blackberry Key2 have been leaked by Evan Blass by stating that it will be priced at $649 U.S. / €649 European Union / £579 GB / $829 CA which would convert to approximately Rs 43,570 by taking into consideration the Dollars rate.
