Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday criticized the US withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal in a speech at a regional summit in China.

Commenting on the G-7's statement, Putin said: "It's time to stop that chatter and deal with real issues".

Putin, speaking after the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the Chinese port city of Qingdao, said Sunday that it was the other member states' decision to skip a scheduled summit in Russian Federation in 2014 and that they are welcome to Russian Federation.

Washington's relations with Moscow have been particularly strained in the wake of the 2016 US presidential election, which USA intelligence agencies said was targeted by Russian Federation.

At home, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer poured scorn on the Republican president's suggestion that Russian Federation should be readmitted to the G7.

US President Donald Trump pulled Washington out of the 2015 global pact with Iran that placed limits on its nuclear programme in return for the easing of economic sanctions.

Just yesterday Trump said Russian Federation should be attending a Group of Seven summit in Canada, a controversial idea that even Moscow seemed to reject.

"Whether you like it or not, and it may not be politically correct, but we have a world to run", Trump said.

Trump's rejection of the global climate accord and Iran nuclear deal, supported by the European Union and Canada is going to be another flashpoint in the increasingly acrimonious relationship between Washington and its Western allies.

Putin is in Beijing for a state visit, during which he will attend a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Founded in 2001, the SCO also includes the former Central Asian Soviet republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Associate Professor Li Mingjiang of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies said China and Russian Federation had been cooperating since the late 1990s as they "responded to quite similar pressures from the West".

Xi said the award is the highest state honor given to foreigners, awarded to those who have made outstanding contributions, "promoting exchange and cooperation between China and the world, and safeguarding world peace", as quoted by Xinhua.

Speaking on background, Canadian officials said Ottawa's position hasn't changed and they believe that Russia's illegal annexation and occupation of Crimea disqualifies Moscow from participation.

Donald Trumps's decision to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal also demonstrated his reluctance to toe the line of his allies.

Putin, however, voiced his support for Trump's summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore on Tuesday.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani has slammed USA attempts to impose its own policies on others, saying Washington's "unilateral sanctions" damage global business.

"The nuclear energy state-owned corporation Rosatom is one of Russia's most internationally competitive companies", Lukin said.
