Thanks to Thanos, Reddit Is Planning a Huge Purge

The internet always wins, especially with the abundance of memes, and the latest to take the cake is an Avengers: Infinity War meme subreddit and/or Thanos apologist group r/thanosdidnothingwrong, that is poised to make Reddit history.

At the time of this writing, the Thanos Did Nothing Wrong subreddit has more than 660 thousand subscribers. On July 5 the subreddit was at 360,000 subscribers.

The gesture echoes Brolin's fateful finger snap in the well-received blockbuster, where he played archvillain Thanos, a being of great power determined to wipe out half of existence.

"You seriously want us to ban half of the subreddit?" moderator Dragonphlegm initially shot back. If that's not enough, the post has been gifted with Reddit Gold, which costs $1, 14 times.

Via Polygon, more than 110,000 members of the subreddit (and climbing) will have happily volunteered to be booted off the forum before the carnage is over, but those running the show over there weren't exactly keen on the idea to start with.

Avengers 4 is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 3, 2019. As previously noted, the mass user ban will take place tomorrow, July 9th.
