He said Britain was "a pretty hot spot right now with a lot of resignations".

The 'Drag Protest Parade for the Trump UK visit' has been organised by a drag troupe from Manchester, who will be travelling down to London on Friday morning for the event.

U.S. ambassador Woody Johnson insisted the balloon was not a fair representation of British views.

The bulk of the activity will take place in London, where people plan to gather first in Regent's Park outside of the USA ambassador's house on Thursday and again across central London for a series of protests throughout the day on Friday.

Trump's calls prompted leaders to call an emergency meeting at the summit Thursday, which delayed a session during which North Atlantic Treaty Organisation leaders had meant to discuss the Afghan conflict.

"There is no stronger alliance than that of our special relationship with the USA and there will be no alliance more important in the years ahead", the British leader said.

Only one person, the digital entrepreneur and philanthropist Baroness Martha Lane-Fox, has publicly refused the invitation.

Scores of noisy demonstrators also turned up outside the United States ambassador's residence in Regent's Park in London where the president and first lady are spending the night.

He will hold talks on foreign policy with Mrs May at Chequers, before meeting the Queen at Windsor Castle - 26 miles from the capital. This part of the visit is being considered private.

President Trump will head to London on Friday, where he's expected to face protests at every turn. Demonstrations are also expected outside both of his golf resorts.
