There is a new "Desert" biome and two new locations, Paradise Palms and Lazy Links.

Season 5 of Fortnite is upon us, and game developer Epic Games has a long list of updates for gamers.

As exciting as Fortnite's fourth season was, with consumable comet fragments, a Thanos crossover event, and even a surprise rocket launch, the game's fifth season might be even bigger. Other un-named POI have also been added to the island. Complete any four of these tasks to unlock the weekly featured Battle Pass reward.

Season 5 brings a new story line, new areas on the map, new weapons, toys, vehicles and new challenges. Adding a new dimension to the game like this helps to prevent the experience from growing stale, while also expanding the ever-growing list of things Fortnite offers which other Battle Royale games don't.

The Season 5 mystery outfit still hasn't been revealed or datamined just yet and if it's anything like the skin we got in Season 4 - "The Visitor" for those who don't remember - then it's likely we won't see this until Week 7. In addition to balance changes and bug fixes, the latest version of Fortnite adds new locations to explore, a new vehicle to drive around the map, more challenges for free players to complete, and, as always, plenty of new cosmetics to unlock.

This time around, there are tons of new features for you to enjoy. It'll drift, granting you a speed boost, and players can use the roof as a bounce pad. "You're in for a wild ride", writes Epic Games in the description of the rifts. For those that aren't sold on the Battle Pass yet, there are three challenges that are open to everyone - the rest, you must be a member. You'll now be able to see how many pellets made contact with your enemy, through the reticle, and the spread pattern for each shot will become consistent.

Another change is how players are able to earn extra XP when playing big team modes.
