Mike Malone reunion with Isaiah Thomas a result of ‘honest’ relationship

Thomas had been lingering on the free agent market with few known suitors since his contract expired with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news and revealed that Isaiah had signed a deal for the veteran minimum of $2 million, which is a far cry from the Brinks truck he was hoping for.

Entering his eighth National Basketball Association season, Isaiah Thomas apparently will be joining a sixth team.

During the 2016-17 season Thomas was third in the league with 28.9 points per game and he earned second team All-NBA honors after helping to guide the Celtics to the best record in the East at 53-29.

Isaiah Thomas started from the bottom, being picked dead last in the 2011 National Basketball Association draft.

That season, though, ended with a hip injury, one that delayed his 2017-18 debut until January.

Maybe these posts had an effect as it was reported soon after that he had signed a one-year deal with the Denver Nuggets. When the Celtics traded him to Cleveland last August for Kyrie Irving, disaster ensued.

Thomas has been working his way back from a procedure on his hip and if he rebounds on the court this season, he could provide a strong option for the Nuggets while reestablishing his value before becoming a free agent again.

According to ESPN, Thomas will have a key role as an off-the-bench scorer.

Just 12 months ago, Isaiah Thomas was on a high after coming off his best season in the National Basketball Association with the Boston Celtics where he was an MVP candidate.
