Trump adds on the Putin meeting: "Also, we got along very well, which is a good thing, except for the Corrupt Media!"

President Trump's approval rating hit an all-time high in July despite non-stop media attacks surrounding his historic Helsinki summit with Vladimir Putin; smashing estimates after receiving widespread praise from rank-and-file Republicans.

A SC congressman is saying officials in President Donald Trump's administration, including United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, should "re-evaluate" serving under the president in response to his handling of Russian election interference.

"I and the entire intel [ligence] community are committed to providing the best possible intelligence to inform and support President Trump's ongoing efforts to prevent Russian meddling in our upcoming elections, to build strong relationships internationally in order to maintain peace, denuclearize risky regimes and protect our nation and our allies", Mr Coats added in his statement.

"When you hear the Fake News talking negatively about my meeting with President Putin, and all that I gave up, remember, I gave up NOTHING", Trump said wrote on Twitter. "I think the Russians elected a former KGB agent and he spends all of his time and their resources squandering it on penny ante spy tactics".

Trump had tweeted Sunday that President Obama "didn't tell our campaign" about Russia, "Because it is all a big hoax".

For a full week now, Donald Trump has faced protests as crowds gather outside the White House to respond to his behavior when he met with Russia's Vladimir Putin.

Among them were Ukraine, Syria, Russian meddling in the USA elections, and the nations' nuclear arsenal, according to Trump. He was quoting a conservative activist on Fox News.

Mr Coats issued a statement seeking to control the damage from an interview he gave at the Aspen Institute security forum in Colorado on Thursday in which he expressed surprise when the news broke that Trump was planning another Putin summit. Starting Tuesday, the protests - which have already included chanting "lock him up" as Trump arrived at the White House, in a mockery of similar chants aimed at Hillary Clinton during Trump's campaign - will address the president in a new way.

Moreover, Trump is flip-flopping between accepting the Mueller investigation and then calling it a "witch hunt". But Trump cast doubt once again in a Sunday tweet, diminishing at least the significance, if not the existence, of the interference and the US investigation into Russia's actions.
