Ocasio-Cortez, 28, is a self-proclaimed socialist who if elected in the fall would become the youngest woman ever to serve in Congress.

Florida Representative Ron DeSantis, who is running for governor of the state, appeared at a campaign rally on Saturday and made a decision to use Ocasio-Cortez's name in his attack against democratic socialism, Broadly reports.

Conservative media network CRTV was called out on Tuesday by New York Democratic congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after it posted a hoax interview video aimed at humiliating her without making viewers aware it had been faked.

In the four days between her primary win and the end of June, Ocasio-Cortez raked in more than $70,000 from out-of-state donors who contributed more than $200, according to an OpenSecrets analysis of her FEC filings.

He went on to criticize Ocasio-Cortez's Democratic socialist policies and for flubbing a question in a recent interview in which she criticized Israel's "occupation" of the Palestinian territories. Cleaver said that "ridiculous" idea arose because Ocasio-Cortez and others on the far left say ICE should be abolished. "It's basically socialism wrapped in ignorance", he told his audience.

"You're just repeating these canned, left-wing talking points and you're somehow the savior of the Democratic party?" he added.

Perhaps this United Nations decision slipped DeSantis' mind, as he continue on to say, "Good Lord". "She has no clue what she's talking about".

DeSantis and his campaign said his comments have very little to do with identity and are more a critique of Ocasio-Cortez' socialist views. The member of the Democratic Socialists of America Party and former Bernie Sanders for President organizer has since hit the trail outside of NY and has campaigned with Senator Sanders for liberal candidates in Kansas. "It's unusual you don't know what that is, given that ~75,000 Puerto Ricans have relocated to Florida in the 10 mos since Maria".

"Rep DeSantis, it seems you're confused as to 'whatever I am.' I am a Puerto Rican woman".
