No-one could begrudge this young City side a share of the spoils, but the game was turned on its head with 20 minutes remaining.

England U-17 World Cup victor Foden and Diaz made the step up into the seniors last season and have increased their chances of making further inroads during the new campaign with some good performances over the last 10 days.

Pep Guardiola's afternoon then got even worse as new signing Riyad Mahrez had to be taken off on 27 minutes due to an ankle knock, Bernardo Silva taking the Algerian's place on the pitch.

"It will be good for them for the future but they know that I always play the guys who run".

"For 75 minutes, it was incredible with the players we have what we did against that team - the finalists of the Champions League, who have unbelievable players". That's the reason I wanted to be a part of that training camp. In my career, that detail speaks for itself.

Liverpool beat Manchester City 2-1, Salah's goal levelled up the score after an earlier strike from Leroy Sane and there was a dramatic finish as Sadio Mane scored a 94th-minute penalty.

The 25-year-old came in for Curtis Jones in the 62nd minute and equalised for the Reds barely one minute later to giving life to the Red's playing in East Rutherford, New Jersey, United States.

"We analysed our mistakes from the previous games and we played a lot better today. I am so happy with my players".

"If we are going to compare November, December, January, comparing the position, we are going to lose all the comparisons with what we have done last season". It's not easy to have high intensity in this humidity but I am so satisfied.

Liverpool fans loved their star man's display.

Southgate, however, will receive a glowing report about Foden.

"Every club does what they believe, I understand completely", said the City manager when asked about Liverpool's activity in the transfer market.

"The last game (against Liverpool) was not his flawless performance but even though Phil didn't play good, he's a fighter, he runs and he never gives up".

"You can not imagine how much I have enjoyed these ten days with these guys".

His replacement Bernardo Silva pulled a goal back before 19-year-old Lukas Nmecha poked home the equaliser, Silva netting the victor from 15 yards. Guardiola meanwhile said he was relieved no players were injured.

"I know that people want to hear that I tell you we can win this or that, but I have no clue if we will win something". I saw many good things, but I will not say names.
