Bonucci spent seven seasons at Juventus, helping them win six successive Serie A titles, before joining AC Milan for 40 million euros in a shock move a year ago.

Higuain arrived in Milan last night as Rossoneri fans gathered around the club's headquarters to welcome the Argentinean striker.

Luiz has featured in both of Chelsea's pre-season matches under Sarri, who has started his reign with victories over Inter Milan and Perth Glory.

Higuaín moved to Juventus in 2016 for €90m (£75m) and scored 40 goals in 76 Serie A appearances.

The Milan side is also leading the race due to Juve's interest in Leonardo Bonucci, who is eager to return to the Turin side.

The 17-year-old will be hoping to impress new Chelsea FC manager Maurizio Sarri as he looks to try and hold down a regular spot in the first team under the new boss.

The two centre-backs, Milan confirmed, switch teams in a straight swap, with no further money changing hands between the clubs.

Chelsea have lodged a £35.5 million offer for Juventus and Italy defender Mattia Caldara, as their patience over the transfer of his club teammate Daniele Rugani wears thin, as per reports from the Evening Standard.

"The 24-year-old defender has signed a contract with AC Milan until June 30, 2023".

Bonucci's arrival in Turin also coincided with Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain travelling to Milan ahead of his own move to the San Siro.

A loan move initially, the fee is reported to be 18m euros but the purchase option will add an additional 36m euros on top of that. Caldara joined Juventus last summer but spent last season on loan with Atalanta.
