With pop fans squabbling as to which star is most deserving of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, MTV has finally announced that this year's recipient will be Jennifer Lopez.

Wearing an oversized, white button-down shirt; denim; high-heeled, over-the-knee boots with belt buckles, which made them look like jeans; a gold "Jennifer" necklace; and hoop earrings, Lopez said that "it's mind-blowing" to be receiving the award. Her single, "Dinero" is nominated for two awards this year.

Jennifer Lopez's two-decade music career will be honored at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards.

"It is awesome, honestly".

Previous recipients of the Vanguard Award include last year's honoree P!nk as well as Rihanna, Kanye West, U2, R.E.M., Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Janet Jackson and, of course, the award's namesake Michael Jackson. JLo's last VMA performance came in 2001, where she performed her 2000s smash hit "I'm Real" with Ja Rule. Growing up on MTV and watching all my idols get this award ... I can't even believe it.

Lopez, who will give a live performance during the August 20 event, appeared in a Facebook Live segment, where she called the honor "amazing".

"I just don't let up".
