TMZ reports that Demi Lovato was in such poor health when she overdosed that her assistant thought she had died.

Demi Lovato is reportedly expected to leave the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles sometime this week.

Another source told ET that Lovato was "experiencing nausea and fever" when she was rushed to the hospital last week.

And reports say the situation became so dire that a member of Demi's team threatened to quit if she wasn't willing to receive the treatment she needs. Her family made a decision to wait until she was feeling better to bring up rehab.

"She's dead!" when she found Lovato in her bedroom, according to TMZ.

Following her hospitalization, her representative said in a statement: "Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support".

The bodyguard went to her side and gave her first aid before paramedics arrived.

An insider explained: "Demi has told the people close to her that she is serious about her sobriety, and plans to do whatever it takes to maintain a healthy lifestyle moving forward".

"She understands the severity of her overdose and the recovery has been very challenging for he".

The Confident singer celebrated six years of sobriety earlier this year, before confessing to her fans that she had relapsed in new song Sober, which was released in June.
