John Kasich: Suburban GOP Women 'Turned Off' by Trump's Chaos

Trump and Balderson headlined a rally in Ohio Saturday night, and Trump has promoted Balderson mutliple times on his Twitter page.

The plaudits came two days after Trump mistakenly urged Republicans to vote in the special election for a someone not on its ballot ― GOP Rep. Steve Stivers.

President Donald Trump has arrived in OH at the Port Columbus International Airport and is appearing Saturday evening at Olentangy Orange High School north of Columbus in support of GOP congressional candidate Troy Balderson.

He questioned the idea that the party that controls the White House suffers in the midterm elections.

Trump called Balderson "the guy who will do things" and dismissed Balderson's Democratic opponent, Franklin County recorder Danny O'Connor, as a person nobody knows.

Kasich, who ran against Trump for the 2016 Republican nomination and is a prominent critic of the president, also commented on Trump's holding a rally in OH on Friday for Balderson.

Trump also brought to the stage OH congressman Jim Jordan, calling him "a tough cookie".

Truck driver and Trump supporter Rob LaPat is attending his first Trump rally.

"Suburban women in particular here are the ones that are really turned off", Kasich said. The 46-year-old LaPat says he likes the fact the economy is doing well and unemployment is down.

Kasich told ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos on "This Week" Sunday that the special congressional election Tuesday in a district that Trump won by double digits is surprisingly close.

Democrats have "a weak candidate because there's no message", he declared. He also avoided the topic at the Balderson rally, which was held just over 100 miles away from OH favorite James' home of Akron, where the new school will be.

The Ohio rally was Trump's third of the week and he has pledged to accelerate his pace further as the midterms approach.
