The teams didn't disclose terms of Courtois' transfer, but multiple outlets report Real Madrid will pay Chelsea £35 million (€39 million/$45 million) for his services.

"Today is the day I leave my Athletic home, it is a day of mixed feelings to leave the club I joined as a nine-year-old, ” wrote Kepa". However there is no clause in the deal that would permit Chelsea to automatically buy Kovacic, a Croatia global, next summer.

Yes, they always come back strong after a disappointing campaign, yet this one will be a lot different to those where they won the English Premier League.

Courtois said in a news conference yesterday of Hazard: "He's a wonderful player".

With fierce competition for places at Real Madrid, Kovacic has more often than not featured off the bench during his time at the Bernabeu.

Following the news of Thibaut Courtois' imminent departure to Real Madrid, the Blues moved fast to secure the services of Kepa from Athletic Bilbao after courting the player for some time. Madrid earlier this year also signed 19-year-old Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.

Arzani featured at the World Cup for Australia and in confirming the deal City confirmed they would be looking to loan him out to allow him to gain further experience.

On Wednesday, as the Real first team flew back to Madrid after beating Roma in New Jersey on Tuesday night, the club said the World Cup players were in training. As the part of the contract, Mateo Kovacic, midfielder of the Spanish powerhouse, will join the blues on a season-long loan.

Speaking in an interview with Chelsea FC's website, Kovacic said: "I am really happy and excited to be here at Chelsea".

"The manager made me feel confident about playing here".

While the rest of Europe's leading leagues don't close the window until later in August, England's top-flight clubs have until 1600GMT on Thursday to wrap up their business.
