Air Quality 'Unhealthy' in Areas of Humboldt County

According to an NWS forecast discussion, haze higher in the atmosphere is from wildfires across south OR and northern California.

We expect air quality to reach levels that are UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS overnight and into tomorrow in many areas.

"Continued fire activity from the Carr, Mendocino Complex, and OR fires continue to send smoke into the area", the NCUAQMD stated in the announcement.

Officials warned older residents and young children or people with heart or lung disease to "avoid prolonged or heavy exertion".

Similar conditions prevailed in Calgary, where even trying to make out the city's skyline from any distance proved hard.
