Samsung has unveiled its first 8K LCD TVs, ranging from 65 to 85 inches in size, under the Q900R model name.

Samsung Q900R offers Real 8K Resolution, which is capable of 4,000 nit peak brightness. "The solution runs on a machine learning algorithm that was made out of a vast database of millions of scenes analyzed", says a Korea Herald report. The company did not comment on HDMI 2.1 either but we are chasing details.

This monster 85-inch 8K QLED TV will be available for purchase this year and it is believed that it won't cost as much as you would expect.

8K refers to the number of horizontal pixels in a screen - with this newest resolution having four times as many pixels vertically and horizontally as current top-end 4K screens, and 16 times more than standard full HD screens. This optimises the TV's brightness to produce crisper images and more accurate colours.

It's "world first" 8K (7680 x 4320) OLED TV was launched at IFA 2018 in Berlin. Additionally, the Q900R boasts enhanced contrast and precise backlighting control courtesy of its Direct Full Array Elite feature.

The Korean company estimates that shipments of 8K TVs applied with different displays will be around 60,000 units globally this year and reach 5.3 million units by 2022.

The One Invisible Connection - which comes standard at five metres and is also available in 15 metres - incorporates an optical cable and power into one cord.
