'Bachelor in Paradise' preview: Why Colton wants to end things with Tia

Underwood initially competed on Becca Kufrin's season of The Bachelorette, though he was ultimately sent home towards the end of the season. The 26-year-old former National Football League star is familiar to viewers thanks to his 4th-place finish on Becca Kufrin's recent season of The Bachelorette, followed by a stint on Bachelor in Paradise.

"Producers definitely expected some backlash from certain fans, but that always happens and they think Colton will make for a good season", the source says.

The 26-year-old gained attention for opening up about his virginity on Kufrin's season, where he placed fourth. And surprise on Tuesday morning Colton was announced as the next "Bachelor".

In a sneak peek of tonight's episode, Colton admits that he no longer wants to pursue a relationship with Tia. Underwood later addressed the breakup in an Instagram post, thanking Booth for "teaching me even more about myself, and most importantly, for your friendship that I know will continue far beyond Paradise".

"The Bachelor" premieres in January on ABC.

Underwood, who is also known for once dating Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, will be the first self-proclaimed νirgiп to be the Bachelor.

Tia also confirmed via Twitter that she would not be a contestant on Colton's season of The Bachelor.

After that, he and Tia were one of the most solid couples in Paradise, until Monday's show when he revealed to Canadian Kevin Wendt that he was having second thoughts about their future and realized she wasn't the one for him.

Booth noted that she's thankful that this chapter has ended and she wished Colton the best as they both work on beginning new chapters.

TV Guide readers would have preferred Becca's third-place finisher Jason Tartick as The Bachelor, but it's Colton.

And NO I will NOT be a contestant on Colton's season.
