He is, however, determined to succeed at Chelsea for now, with the Premier League presenting him with an entirely different challenge to that he had grown accustomed to in Serie A. There were reasons I wanted to stay at Napoli and some reasons why I had doubts.

Despite a number of public spats with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, Sarri insisted: "I'm grateful because he gave me the opportunity to coach the team in my heart".

When asked why they opted to change coach, he replied: "I still don't know".

In the meantime, Sarri is settling into his new surroundings well and enjoying life in the Premier League, where Chelsea have won their first four games.

"Here it is totally different: it is an absolute party, it is a pleasure to arrive in the stadiums and see the fans with different shirts drinking a beer together".

"I sign autographs for fans of the opposing team on the touchline, before and after the match". But now I've got Chelsea and I'm delighted.

"The release clause in my contract with Napoli expired on May 31, but De Laurentiis appointed Ancelotti on the 21st".

"The games have so much intensity and physicality".

Due to issues surrounding his contract at Napoli as well as the time it took for Chelsea to dismiss Antonio Conte, Sarri wasn't unveiled at Stamford Bridge until a few weeks before the season started.

"The food more than anything, but I'm getting used to the meat and salmon here".

Interestingly, Ancelotti also set that record during his time with the Blues in 2009-10 and Chelsea went on to win the league as well as the FA Cup that year.

However, Sarri has now revealed the unfortunate nature of his departure from the club, telling Il Mattino newspaper (via the Daily Mail): "It's true, I found out that I wasn't the Napoli coach anymore by seeing it on television".
