Fans of Google's innovative email app Inbox will have to look elsewhere in the coming months. However, with the launch of the redesign of Gmail Google has brought most of Inbox's most popular features to their main email app. Vale Inbox, we truly loved you.

Inbox has pioneered numerous features that are now part of the new Gmail.

In a Wednesday blog post, Google said it plans to shut down the email product at the end of March 2019 "to focus exclusively on Gmail". Google has already brought many features from Inbox over to Gmail, so one might say that it was inevitable that Google would kill off Inbox.

While Apple was busy pitching its shiny new watches and iPhones to the world today, rival Google took the opportunity to let us know that it's killing Inbox, an alternative to Gmail that the company's been developing in tandem for about four years. Inbox marked a clear departure from the aging design of Gmail, and focused on a mobile-first experience.

Google will remove Gmail Offline from the Chrome Web Store on December 3, 2018.

When I reviewed Inbox back in 2014 I quickly realized that the service was not something that I wanted to use. There are tons of email services and email apps that accompany them.

As the curtain falls, Google has prepared a guide for users transitioning from Inbox to Gmail, despite complaints from devoted Inbox users on Twitter. The company confirmed the news through a blog post on September 12 titled "Inbox is signing off. Find your favourite features in the new Gmail".
