"Road conditions are still changing", the North Carolina Department of Transportation said on Twitter on Tuesday. NCDOT warns that during a big storm there's a lag time between when a road becomes impassable and when it gets marked as closed on the website.

The death toll from the storm is at least 32 in three states, with 25 fatalities in North Carolina.

Hog lagoons are used to process pig waste by allowing microorganisms to break down the waste matter into nutrients that can be used as fertilizer.
