The Portuguese international's equaliser cancelled out an opening effort from Fred - both players scoring for the first time in English football - and continued Wanderers' impressive start to life in the Premier League under Nuno Espirito Santo.

United have eased talk of a crisis around Old Trafford with back-to-back Premier League victories over Burnley and Watford. They play every ball with every second with the maximum intensity and desire and we didn't. They had [it], we didn't.

"You see the level of the teams - you see Liverpool's squad, Manchester City's squad, Chelsea's squad, Tottenham's squad, and Arsenal are improving. That's not the case, and we all know that". Asked whether this was down to the Lindelöf-Smalling partnership, Mourinho said: "No, I think the team as a team is resolving the defensive problems better than before".

After securing the Championship title last season when earning promotion back to the Premier League, Wolves have continued to impress this campaign, having tasted defeat just once from their six league games so far. We had three clear chances in the beginning of the game.

Mourinho has fielded a central defensive partnership of Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof in each of those three wins, having started the season with Eric Bailly playing alongside the Sweden worldwide.

But Mourinho was again left questioning the attitude of his players after what was a thoroughly deserved point for Wolves, who could have left with all three.

Diogo Dalot made his debut for the Red Devils in the 3-0 win over Young Boys on Wednesday evening and received a lot plaudits.

"I want him in this process of adaptation to play totally fresh, so he's not playing tomorrow", said the manager.

"So, we didn't have a team that was in big trouble with accumulation of matches".

"I could go in this direction, but we had [Jesse] Lingard and Alexis [Sanchez], they didn't play, [Marouane] Fellaini played 20-25 minutes, Fred played 60 minutes, [Antonio] Valencia also didn't play".

"I can't explain difference of attitude because I never had a difference of attitude". We are going to play better than we did, but I think it's going to be a very hard season.

That will be next midweek in the EFL Cup at Old Trafford.
