Garoppolo stayed down on the sidelines on his hands and knees with what initially appeared to be a shoulder injury.

"We fear an ACL injury", 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game. "We'll find out more tomorrow".

Jimmy Garoppolo left Sunday's game against the Chiefs on a cart after injuring his knee during a scramble in the fourth quarter.

"He keeps surprising everybody every single week, even his teammates, and it gets us going, playing with confidence, and that stuff is contagious, and we just keep it rolling from there", Kelce said. But after one devastating turn for the 49ers in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, Beathard will have as many as 13 games to show the results of his work in the offseason. They finally settled for a field goal on their final trip inside the 20, one on which they advanced no deeper than the Niners' 19-yard line. "I feel like it will really help me going forward having had the experience. I can only imagine how tough it is for him this early in the season".

"I told him I'll be praying for him and I love him and he just told me to lead these guys", Beathard said.

Beathard said part of his duty for as long as he is the 49ers' starting quarterback is to be a leader and keep the team together through adversity.

The two individual touchdown passes that culminated in the National Football League record were 12 yards in length, the first and second to Demetrius Harris and Sammy Watkins respectively, and a third pass was caught for 4 yards by Chris Conley within the red zone.

The 49ers also lost star cornerback Richard Sherman to a calf injury, the third defensive back to get banged up in the game. However, 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was knocked out of the contest after a big hit on the sideline.

Exactly how this impacts the remainder of San Francisco's season is yet to be determined, although it can't look good. Kansas City won 38-27, and it was never close.

Following two Kareem Hunt touchdowns, Mahomes spent the rest of the first half electrifying an already amped crowd.
