Manchester United crashed out of the Carabao Cup in a penalty shoot-out to Derby with Pogba watching from the stands. When we are at home we should attack, attack, attack.

Mourinho's decision to give Pogba the armband on that occasion came hard on the heels of suggestions Barcelona were pressing to sign the 25-year-old.

Manchester United is predicting another year of record revenue despite a shaky start to the club's Premier League season.

The 25-year-old World Cup victor tried to force through a transfer to Barcelona days before the window closed but United chiefs were unwilling to sell their prized asset.

That has inevitably not gone down well with widespread reports on Tuesday claiming Mourinho has told Pogba he will not wear the captain's armband again and the Portuguese also took other players to task in his programme notes prior to the EFL Cup clash with Derby.

The player and manager have seemed increasingly at odds over recent months, and on Saturday Pogba launched a not-too-subtle attack on his coach by urging United to change their style and "attack, attack, attack".

Paul Pogba slammed those who "create drama" after he appeared to criticise Manchester United's tactics under Jose Mourinho.

"It was the easiest selection I have had, the players were superb against Brentford and they deserved the chance to play at Old Trafford".

Jack Marriott's 85th-minute header put Frank Lampard on course for a first victory against a Premier League side as manager until Marouane Fellaini equalised deep into stoppage time - but that just delayed the celebrations.

"Going after the sixth and seventh I knew we would be in trouble with Jones and Eric [Bailly]". What a performance. To go down early at Old Trafford and play as well as they did was superb.
