The Fifa Fan Award went to Peru's supporters who caused absolute scenes (in a good way) in Russian Federation this summer as the national team made their way to their first World Cup tournament in 36 years.

The Portugal captain's three votes went to Antoine Griezmann in third, and former Real Madrid team-mates Modric in second and Raphael Varane in first.

Griezmann's goals powered France to a World Cup title, while Salah was sensational for club Liverpool in the 2017/18 season, very almost ensuring a UEFA Champions League crown.

"I am as happy as if I had won it", said Ramos of Modric's success.

The award for best women's player went to Brazilian Marta, a runner-up in 2016 and five-time victor of the the award's previous incarnation, the FIFA World Player of the Year.

"He gave us belief that we could achieve something great in Russian Federation, and hopefully we will do the same for the next generation", Modric said.

"I'm the type of person who always wants to be the best, so it's only natural that I dreamed one day I would come this far, and, thanks to God, here I am now".

Ronaldo had won the award for the last two years with Messi and him dominating the voting over the course of the last 11 years.

Salah´s goal for Liverpool against Merseyside rivals Everton in the Premier League won the Goal of the Year, which is voted for by fans, ahead of Gareth Bale´s spectacular overhead kick for Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

"Of course I would change everything to have won in Russian Federation".

No French player was on the shortlist but Didier Deschamps was voted manager of the year after becoming only the third man to win the World Cup as a player and coach.

In the FIFA's women's coach of the year award category, Matildas coach Alen Stajcic was pipped by Olympique Lyonnais Feminin boss Reynald Pedros.

And former England and Real Madrid coach Capello hit out at the duo for failing to show respect to Modric and the "football world" by skipping the awards ceremony.
