Steelers hope win over Bucs is a sign of things to come

Last season, Tampa Bay were 6-9-1 against the spread.

And nearly like a preemptive strike, Koetter began to discuss his quarterback situation Sunday in Chicago before Lucas had a chance to ask.

But, he said, "You never really know how it's going to go from week to week".

Fitzpatrick became the first quarterback in National Football League history to record three consecutive 400-yard games after he finished with 411 yards last night. I hope everybody can appreciate it, it doesn't do us any good to tell our opponents what we're going to do.

Jameis Winston is back with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"When a guy throws for 400 yards three games in a row, you gotta love that", Winston said, adding that he's happy for Fitzpatrick, as well as proud of the entire team for how it performed in his absence. Considering previous sexual assault allegations against Winston, there are many who don't even want him on the Bucs roster - let alone starting ahead of an endearing figure like Fitzpatrick.

The Bucs' offense went where their second-year stud wideout took them.

Winston's three-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy ended Tuesday, the first day the fourth-year pro was permitted to return to the team's training facility and have contact with coaches and teammates.

Previous reports suggested that Fitzpatrick would have to blow up Monday night against Pittsburgh in order to hand the starting job back to Winston.

But Fitzpatrick's two-touchdown fourth quarter almost helped the Bucs to a second-half comeback victory, as the team fell just short, ultimately losing 30-27.

"I'm happy with the way the first two games went", Fitzpatrick said Monday night.

The Bucs got the ball back with just over three minutes left; however, the Steelers forced a punt and Roethlisberger ran out the clock.

The 2-1 Bucs won't be back at practice until Wednesday and with the little preparation time for the Bears, Koetter is not likely to make a change at quarterback.

"I thought Carlton Davis was outstanding in the game", Koetter said.

Despite his three interceptions going into halftime, Fitzpatrick managed to rally the Buccaneers in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 20-point deficit. And I think that will be my mindset going forward. Wide receiver Mike Evans took the blame for one of the picks, saying he deviated from the planned route and "tricked Fitz". "We're out here doing big things and we've got to continue doing that".
