It's an all-new action-adventure game inspired by classic dungeon crawlers, where you'll constantly discover new weapons and items that will help you defeat a ruthless swarm of new-and-nasty mobs. "Dungeons is essentially one Minecraft world with specific areas to go to and specific quests and specific monsters".

Last is the announcement of a completely "new" Minecraft game.

Mojang announced the game at Minecon today, providing a few general details about what Minecraft: Dungeons is all about.

Today the Microsoft-owned Swedish developer unveiled Minecraft: Dungeons, a full-fledged game inspired by the classic dungeon-crawlers of old, and crafted by a small internal team as a passion project.

The next big update is dubbed "Village and Pillage", and will put a focus on updating the game's villager settlements in the overworld, adding new types of NPCs to interact with. Villager designs will vary depending on the biome. I am quite pleased with the little teaser for Minecraft: Dungeons and it seems like the kind of Minecraft experience I'll enjoy. Additionally, villages will vary by biome aesthetically, and also suffer raids from evil pillagers. "Fight or flee through canyons, swamps and - of course - mines!" You will be able to play the game by yourself or with a group of up to four friends. Village and Pillage is also slated for a 2019 release. It'll be interesting to see if more will come down the line considering the popularity of the franchise. Hammers, swords, magic, and other weapon combinations were spotted in the trailer to show some of the options players will have.
