The Windies are now struggling at 94-6, with Keemo Paul (13 runs) and Roston Chase (27) at the crease. He is also the third batsman after Shikhar Dhawan (85 balls) and Dwayne Smith (93) to hit his debut ton in under 100 balls.

Ashwin was the lone wicket-taker in Windies' second innings, after having been enforced follow-on by the hosts.

Ravindra Jadeja, who was fielding on mid-wicket, jogged all the way towards the bowlers end and waited for the last moment to break the stumps to run Shimron Hetmyer out.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami then struck early to get the two West Indian openers back in the pavilion for seven runs including stand-in-skipper Kraigg Brathwaite for two.

The left-handed batsman tore apart the West Indian bowling as he brought up his fifty with a huge six off paceman Keemo Paul. At the close of play the Windies were 94/6, still some 555 runs behind India's first innings total of 649/9. Whenever I reached 70-80 in the past I thought about my hundred but threw my wicket away. "I was just walking at the stumps, and I didn't think he (Hetmyer) will start running", jadeja said with a smile.

Jadeja, playing his 38th five-day game, hit five fours and five sixes during his 132-ball stay.

Rajkot: Skipper Virat Kohli brought up his 24th Test century while wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant missed out on one after a blistering 92 as India put on 506/5 at lunch on day two of the first Test against the West Indies here on Friday.

The diminutive right-hander becomes India's second youngest century-maker after Sachin Tendulkar, who in 1990 was 17 years and 112 days when he made 119 not out against in England in Manchester during his ninth Test appearance.

Kohli reached his 24th century in his 123rd innings, while Australia's Bradman took just 66 knocks to achieve the same feat.
