His death was ruled accidental.

In an unfortunate turn of events, a man named James Emswiller has died on after a fatal fall on the set of "You Are My Friend".

Police said witnesses had reported that Emswiller, 61, "was alone on the balcony taking a cigarette break when he may have suffered a medical emergency resulting in his fall from the balcony".

A nurse on the set attempted to assist him. "'What is happening out there?' And there was just people everywhere, people on the curb sitting", said Vince Passerini.

"There were a bunch of fire trucks, like maybe two of three ambulances, it was a large commotion, everyone was staring", said Sarah Pfabe.

The crew was on the second day of filming an interior apartment scene with Hanks, who reportedly was on set at the time of the accident.

And now, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has opened an investigation into the death, which they have six months to complete.

"This is a devastating tragedy and the studio is investigating the matter", it reads.

Emswiller was from Pittsburgh.

Emswiller, who won an Emmy in 2015 for outstanding sound mixing for a limited series or movie for his work on Queen Latifah's "Bessie", has nearly 80 credits to his name. He also worked as a sound mixer on Love The Coopers, Foxcatcher, The Fault In Our Stars and The Avengers.

Tentatively titled You Are My Friend, the Hanks-led project will follow the real-life friendship between the legendary children's television host Fred Rogers and a cynical journalist named Tom Junod. The movie - which is apparently called "You Are My Friend", even though that title is not official at this point - is now slated for release October 18, 2019.
