He went on to reveal: "Now, that said, it doesn't make up for the fact that she was unaware of the situation, and what she did was insensitive". Instead, he suggested that she may have simply spoken in ignorance,"unaware of the history".

"I also was visiting NY shortly after the shoot, and Megyn Kelly had me on her show and interviewed me".

But her rocky transition to morning news showed just how hard it is to separate one's identity from the Fox News brand. Sources earlier in the week said that Kelly was likely to leave the company.

NBC hired Kelly in January 2017 after she rose to fame on 21st Century Fox's cable channel Fox News.

Kelly's future with NBC remains uncertain.

NBC hired Kelly away from Fox News with incredible fanfare previous year. It was a dramatic final straw in NBC News chief Andy Lack's big-bucks experiment to bring more conservative fly-over country viewers to the morning show franchise with the addition of the outspoken ex-Fox News lightning rod who prides herself on being "not pc". "Only the truth will set you free!" During it, she made a bad attempt at a joke, which irked the cast.

Rumors of a possible return to Fox News were firmly shot down by an informed and high-level source at her former network on Friday, who told DailyMail.com that Kelly 'is not coming back to any of the Fox News platforms'. Next week, the 9 a.m. hour will be hosted by other "Today' co-anchors", NBC said.

"Listen, I have "blackface" 24/7, so it is never an issue for me", she said".

"And I didn't like it when she said Santa Claus is white. But you know, I feel now everybody is sort of piling on Megyn Kelly all at one time and I always think that's a very hard position to be in". She questioned why it had been considered racist when a character on "The Real Housewives of New York" darkened her skin for a Diana Ross costume.

A Thursday report from the Daily Mail noted that Kelly reportedly will "not ever" come back to NBC after the fallout.

"So I think that the management has to take some responsibility in it, she has to take some responsibility in it, and also her representatives have to take some responsibility in it", he added. "That's what I want to do", she said. "Megyn has used her show to give a voice to women in the #MeToo movement, not fearing the consequences, even if those people were in her own backyard". Kelly interviewed the "InfoWars" founder and popular conspiratorial talk radio host in an interview in which she tried to grill him on some of his more controversial claims.
