Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry have been visiting New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and Tonga, as part of their first worldwide state tour together.

Free Maori language courses often report being booked out and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has said her infant daughter Neve Te Aroha will learn the language alongside English.

Rain, wind and a distant quake didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm of New Zealanders who turned out to see Prince Harry and wife Meghan on Tuesday.

The Duchess of Sussex showed off her welly-wanging prowess with a deft underarm throw on the latest stop of their marathon royal tour.

Meghan Markle spotted a young fan she used to mentor through Instagram in New Zealand, and the touching moment was captured on film.

Harry and Meghan and their respective teams sparred off in Redvale, north of Auckland, after planting trees and dedicating 20 hectares of forest to the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy (QCC) scheme.

"There wasn't too much of a rivalry", Isabella Iti, 10, said after the gumboot toss.

"I have real empathy and I think she's incredible".

"I do not pick up from the New Zealand public that this is high on their agenda".

From all white ensembles, to stripes and blazers and stylish coats - Meghan's fashion game during her first worldwide tour alongside Prince Harry was strong.

Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, also received a raft of gifts during the walkabout, including an All Blacks onesie for their baby, which is due in the northern hemisphere's spring. Prior to Markle's speech, she and Prince Harry also met with local schoolchildren and also laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior. During their recently concluded 16-day travel across Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand, fans were seen excitedly waiting for their favourite couple with placards, flowers, photos and what not.
