Real Madrid caretaker Solari coy over Vinicius start against Valladolid

The opener in the 83rd minute was an own-goal, deflected off Kiko Olivas, but prompted by Vinicius' weaving run and shot, the kind of exuberance Madrid's toothless attack has been so bereft of in recent weeks.

First Ruben Alcaraz hit the Madrid crossbar, before Toni Villa produced a flying save from Courtois just before the hour, six minutes before he too rattled the woodwork. They conceded another five minutes later after Nacho fouled Real striker Karim Benzema inside the box and skipper Ramos fired the resultant penalty home.

Madrid sit 7 points behind league leaders Barcelona and with their win against Valladolid, thanks to Vinicius Junior, it seems like Madrid is getting back to things little by little.

They now sit sixth with 17 points under the tutelage of Santiago Solari, seven behind leaders, Barcelona.

But their early chances soon dried up and they were loudly booed off at halftime. We understand how the fans feel.

Despite the win, fans were far from happy as they were seen holding banners that read, "Por este escudo hay quemorir en la grada y en el campo" which translates to "For this club badge, one has to die on the pitch and in the stands". "And with the results, the supporters will believe in the team again".

Gareth Bale was given particularly rough treatment from the home fans when he was substituted. Madrid won 4-0 at third-division Melilla in the Copa del Rey in Solari's debut on Wednesday, with Vinicius setting up two goals in his first start for the European champions.

"He's got incredible tactics, he makes his team-mates better and he worked very hard also in defence which I think are fantastic characteristics which say a lot about him".

"We've got a great squad which has proved that it's capable of winning everything going".

"You have moments of beauty when everything goes well and delicate times when you have to be organised, serious and show competitive spirit".
