Connon, who was 18 at the time of the incident, told the Democrat she was scared by the idea of going to court and unsure criminal charges would deter Beierle from assaulting women in the future. Police say the gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, bringing the death toll to three total.

The shooter and victims have not yet been identified.

Beierle killed Nancy Van Vessem, 61, and Maura Binkley, 21, at the studio in Tallahassee on Friday, before taking his own life.

One other person was pistol-whipped.

The motive of the shooting remains unknown. "To lose one of our students and one of our faculty members in this tragic and violent way is just devastating to the Florida State University family", FSU President John Thrasher said in a statement to the Tallahassee TV station.

"Those who engage in treachery will ultimately be the victims of it", Beierle said in a video titled "The Rebirth of My Misogynism".

Beierle, of Deltona, a city near Florida's Atlantic coast more than 200 miles from Tallahassee, had been staying at a local hotel.

He also had a history of expressing misogynistic and racist views. "We should have called the victim to make sure she was OK with him getting diversion".

Beierle also mentioned Elliot Rodger in one of his videos, BuzzFeed reported.

A Tallahassee police spokesman would not confirm or deny the videos were Beierle's.

Another five people were injured during the attack.

He identified with "involuntary celibates", otherwise known as "incels."

"Made one date, didn't show up", he said of one woman.

"They said that he came in and he had a black bag and he pulled it out and as [the gunman] went to go load it, all the yoga studio, the instructor and everybody started pounding on the windows and on the walls to let people know", Hutchinson said.

"I jumped up as quickly as I could", said Quick, who had visible facial injuries. However, since the 2012 battery charges were dropped, Meggs said, it would have been routine for Beierle to receive a deferred prosecution deal. He also was alleged to have grabbed the buttock of another woman in a dining hall at FSU four years prior, but claimed it was an accident.

Beierle was again charged with battery in June 2016, but the charge was dismissed in 2017, records show. The gunman had turned the gun on himself by the time officers arrived, Tallahassee police Chief Michael DeLeo said.

Her father says Binkley planned to graduate college in May and had been working on her Teach for America application.

"I was totally just shocked", she said.

The women who were killed were Maura Binkley and Dr Nancy Van Vessem.

Dr Van Vessem was an internist who served as chief medical director for Capital Health Plan. "Without being aware, she was a mentor".

The two slain Friday were a student and faculty member at Florida State University, according to university officials. She was in the class and thought she was going to die when the shooting broke out.
