Juan Mata relishes in stunning strike against Juventus

Manchester United have had their problems this season but their surprise victory was the kind of performance you used to associate them with in the Champions League in terms of not playing very well but winning in the last five minutes. The Italian champions beat United 1-0 in the last game at Old Trafford. They had chances but in the second half it was a fantastic goal from Cristiano Ronaldo. I could speak for a lot of young players and United fans that watched the team when he was here and the majority of us have followed him as he's moved on in his career and that's what's special about United. As Cristiano Ronaldo was keen to point out, Juventus should have been three or four up by the time Juan Mata equalised with that sumptuous pressure free-kick.

Juventus seemed certain to be heading for all three points, with United struggling to carve out clear-cut scoring opportunities, but Mata hit a free kick into the top left corner in the 86th minute and that seemed to inspire Jose Mourinho's side.

Then in the final minute an Ashley Young freekick was headed on by Marouane Felliani into the path of Pogba who se shot was deflected home by Sandro. I went to Ronaldo's home debut for Juventus and it just wasn't quite happening back then - he looked like he just needed a goal to get him started. I have always felt it is better to lose earlier on in the season than at the end of a title race, because you have time to find the fire to win again and catch up.

"I think we played this season against Chelsea and Juventus away, the two best teams that we faced this season and we played very well in both".

It doesn't bode well ahead of a trip to Manchester City on Sunday.

Unfortunately for United, if City create chances like Juve did - and the Italian champions had two other clear-cut openings as well as their goal - then City will score.

Also. the former Real Madrid star did not help matters as in his post-match interview, where he stated that Manchester United deserved nothing from the game.

Napoli, who have mostly failed to transfer their recent domestic revival to the European stage, were unlucky to not have won at least one of their two clashes with megabucks PSG and on Tuesday gave as good as they got in their 1-1 draw with Thomas Tuchel's side. Well they would not just be my favourites for the Premier League, they are favourites for the Champions League too.

"So ask the FA, they will translate for you", beamed Mourinho.
