Dez Bryant Signs a One Year Deal With New Orleans Saints

The market was pretty dry at that point for Bryant and it took until Wednesday for him to sign with the Saints.

Bryant spent his first eight years in the National Football League in Dallas.

Bryant had a team-leading 69 receptions for 838 yards and six touchdowns with the Cowboys in 2017. From the people who love this game, who've played, they can understand that about it being somewhat harder for other people to figure that out.

For an idea on the lack of wide receiver production outside of Thomas, Ted Ginn Jr., who is on injured reserve with a knee injury, hasn't played since Week 4, yet his 22 targets still rank as the second-most among the wideouts behind Thomas.

Cowboys defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford has actually hung out with Bryant recently, and if his scouting report is to be believed, the Saints are getting a guy who looks like an animal.

The 30-year-old Bryant and the Saints agreed to contract terms on Wednesday, and it remains unclear to what extent Bryant will play when New Orleans visits Cincinnati on Sunday.

"I don't know Dez. But we'll take a peek and see how he does today and tomorrow and we'll fill you in on Sunday", Payton said. Since being cut in April Bryant has turned down opportunities with the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns while he searched for the right situation for himself. Regardless of his status this weekend, Bryant will pile up enough reps over the next three weeks to be something close to top speed when he returns to the scene of some of his greatest heroics.

Added Cowboys coach Jason Garrett: "I'm happy he has an opportunity to go play and finish the right way, it will be a great environment for him to go out and make an impact".

Equally giddy running back Ezekiel Elliott swapped text messages with Bryant after getting off the practice field, telling him congrats as well, while already anticipating the homecoming matchup at the end of the month. New Orleans plays at Dallas on November 29.

New Orleans also has two games remaining against division rival Carolina (6-2).

It will be interesting to see how the rest of Bryant's season goes with the Saints. "He's a good player".
