Aaron Rodgers took on Tom Brady on Sunday and impressed the New England Patriots staff, but he could not inspire victory.

And veteran Brady was quick to praise his rival after the game.

The game was billed as "GOAT Cheese Bowl" but did not feature incredible play by either quarterback. After James White came off the field limping, the Patriots inserted Patterson, who mostly works as a kick returner and wide receiver, into the backfield. The Packers ran for 118 yards in total, which is not an astronomical number, but could be tampered down.

Rodgers countered with a 51-yard strike to Marques Valdez-Scantling in the third quarter, the first deep connection of the game for the Packers. He garnered a personal foul penalty and the Patriots scored three plays later. "We're not playing to the level we need to play in the fourth quarter". "It was one of those plays you think about all the time". Rodgers did not throw a pick, but New England's defense did keep the Green Bay passing game in check in the second half thanks to a brilliant gameplan from Belichick and defensive coordinator Brian Flores. But he didn't just serve as a lead blocker.

"I mean, I had no idea; you get out in space, I have no idea", he said after the game, adding: "And next thing you know, James is running by me". Then he would get into a scuffle with an opposing player and smack the hell out of him, which led to him being ejected from the game.

The last time Edelman completed a pass was in the playoffs against the Baltimore Ravens in 2015.

■ Julian Edelman has 456 receptions with the Patriots, but in 2011 he filled in on defense and recorded a nice open-field tackle against Phildalphia Eagles' quarterback Vince Young. After just three plays, Green Bay punted.

"He's good at tracking and obviously Aaron's placement is going to be where it needs to be", Adams said of MVS.

"So we'll go in and watch the film tomorrow and make our corrections and adjustments". The first went for 24 yards on third-and-1, and the second covered 26 yards to put the ball in scoring range.

Green Bay had the ball in field goal range, on the cusp of breaking a fourth-quarter tie, when Patriots lineman Lawrence Guy knocked the ball out of Aaron Jones' grasp.

Rough week for Jermaine Whitehead.

When the Patriots travel to Tennessee this week, they'll face off against one of Belichick's first and most successful examples of utilizing a player in an unusual way in New England.
