Twitter Flips Out After Facebook Crashes for Many Users

Facebook is now down, as users are reporting a message indicating that "something went wrong" when accessing the site.

We've received multiple reports that Facebook's products aren't working properly.

Facebook went down for some users on Monday afternoon. "We quickly investigated and restored access for everyone".

Thousands of people around the world, but mostly concentrated in the United States, reported connection issues on DownDetector. "We're sorry for the inconvenience", Facebook said.

Disgruntled Facebook users took to Twitter in droves to complain about the outage.

The Facebook app, website and Messenger were all affected. Instagram appears to be running fine. A look at the real-time outage map on Down Detector suggests the social network is down for a large chunk of the US, especially along the eastern seaboard.

According to downdetector.com, a spike in reports of Facebook being down just before 1 p.m. EST.
