And even if Savage wanted to cut ties with Deadpool and the cleaned-up cut of the sequel, he can't: Deadpool kidnapped him and duct-taped his legs to the bed.

And now, behold: we have a trailer previewing the results. To kick off the holiday season, the (sometimes) good guy in red is delivering the official trailer for Once Upon a Deadpool from 20th Century Fox! Filtered, as the movie promises, "through the prism of childlike innocence". Once Upon a Deadpool does welcome a new addition to the cast, however, as Fred Savage plays Deadpool's sidekick.

Deadpool has an eccentric relationship with the fourth wall, and creatively, that means Once Upon a Deadpool is framed with a odd, Princess Bride-like send-up. You need me, Deadpool assures Fred. Why am I here, he asks Deadpool, incredulously.

I'm not so sure the world needs a PG-13 Deadpool 2, but I will admit the joke about how Fred Savage prefers "real" Marvel movies, as opposed to ones released by Fox, was fairly amusing.

That's a reference to Reynolds' first condition of doing the movie. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. The film is essentially a remixed version of Deadpool 2, complete with recut footage from the original picture. There's a quick bit of "new" footage where Deadpool chats with an elderly couple on a bench - but this is actually a deleted scene from Deadpool 2 that can be viewed on the Blu-ray release already.

Once Upon a Deadpool hits theaters on December 12. "Working with a small film crew, Reynolds and his cohorts filmed all the framing scenes in a single hectic day of guerrilla-style filmmaking".
